If you have an interest in health and fitness, there’s no better place for you right now than Instagram. Whether you’re a professional fitness model or simply aspire to become more fit, the fitness community has exploded when it comes to the world of Instagram.

By using specific hashtags on photos they share through Instagram, users can keep track of others who share their interest in a healthy lifestyle. A true community of like-minded people has developed. If you are looking for inspiration or health and fitness tips, Instagram has you covered. And for those who are in the fitness industry, they have stumbled upon one of the greatest marketing tools they could have ever hoped for.

When it comes down to it, there are numerous fitness models out there who are using Instagram to carry out incredibly successful inbound marketing campaigns, whether they recognize that to be what they’re doing or not. They have thousands of followers viewing every single post they push out and hanging on to their every word. What other marketing tactic exists that would give them such a huge reach with literally no expense? There simply isn’t one.

The very basis of inbound marketing lies in producing and publishing content that others find valuable and informative and seek out on their own. Rather than constantly pushing out a message in a traditional way such as a print ad or a commercial and potentially being ignored, you instead go online where your target consumer already is and you provide them with what they are looking for. In this instance, these fitness models have figured out that there is a huge demand for what they can provide.  They can literally reach out to thousands of people who are choosing to see it with fitness tips, inspiration, and motivation. All with a few seconds of effort. All with a single Instagram post. Not only are they providing their followers with what they want, they are also using Instagram as great promotion for things like their blogs or websites. Places their followers can go for even more fitness education and inspiration.

In the past, those in need of a marketing campaign would have naturally thought they should speak to someone about taking out an ad in a magazine, running a commercial on the radio, or some other form of traditional marketing. All of these avenues of reaching out to the public are costly, and in today’s world, less and less effective every day. No one wants to read the ads or view the commercials – so they don’t. What an incredible waste of effort and money!

With the surge in popularity of social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and the like, business owners and others looking for exposure are realizing how simple it can truly be. No need for a huge marketing budget or a team of creatives to think up the next great ad. You can literally do the marketing yourself, with very little prep or expense. And the best part of all is that the consumer loves it! The majority of people out there prefer to go online and search for what they want on their own time, they don’t want a message to be shoved in their face. By taking advantage of these social sites and getting involved where your target consumer is, you are naturally developing a relationship with them and creating an organic sense of loyalty.

Keep an eye on what the fitness community does with this newfound Instagram success. This has the potential to be something incredibly new and exciting that we have yet to see. This in itself is the beauty of inbound marketing – it’s a constant evolution. No one has mastered it, because it is constantly changing. You just have to jump in, try to keep up, and enjoy the ride.
