Content marketing is one of the fastest-growing marketing strategies for a reason: it’s affordable, effective and dynamic. It can also be challenging for newcomers, so a content marketing agency can really help get you going – as long as it’s a qualified, professional agency.

To find a great agency for your business, here are 4 steps you should follow:

1. Do your research

As with any purchase, you need to do some research before signing on the dotted line. Find out about the different services each agency offers, and if they use marketing automation software (such as Hubspot). You should also ask about current or former clients, so you can take a look at their websites and see what kind of success the agency has had in the past.

2. Decide how much help you want/need

Content marketing can be a very in-depth process, often involving a complete website redesign to ensure ease of use (for visitors) and to put proper tracking tools in place. For example, if the agency works with Hubspot, they may want to put the entire website on the Hubspot platform – this makes it easier to edit and compile analytics information.

Additionally, many agencies have different types of staff available. Some agencies will have web designers, marketing specialists and content writers all on staff, so they can provide help in every area of content marketing and handle all of the marketing responsibilities.

3. Ensure there’s a plan

There is a lot of scheduling and planning that comes with content marketing, such as determining how many blogs a week will be written, how often social posts will go up and emails will be sent, and how incoming leads will be handled. Make sure the agency has a comprehensive plan for their entire content marketing strategy, and ask them to explain what they intend to do for each step of the process.

4. Ask about analytics

If you’re going to be paying for something, you want to know what you’re getting for your money, right? A good agency will have analytics in place to track thinks like visits, page views, leads, etc. A great agency will share those analytics with you and walk you through them, so you understand what they mean and if the agency’s methods are working.
